PRESS RELEASE FORMER CEIFAC AUDITOR NAMED EUROPEAN PROSECUTOR OF SLOVENIA

Ms. Tanja FRANK ELER was appointed by the European Council on Wednesday 24 November 2021 to
take up the very important position of European Public Prosecutor of Slovenia in the College of
European Public Prosecutors headed by Laura CODRUTA KOVESI, who took up her duties on 1st
October 2019.

Ms. Tanja FRANK ELER participated as an auditor in the March 2015 session of CEIFAC, the European
College of Financial Investigation and Criminal Financial Analysis in Strasbourg. Since its creation in
2013, the CEIFAC, directed by Dr Chantal CUTAJAR, Senior Lecturer at the University of Strasbourg and
Marc SIMON, Head of the Central Unit of Operational Criminal Analysis, 1st Divisional Commissioner
attached to the Directorate of the fight against serious and organized crime of the Belgian Federal
Judicial Police, has hosted 13 classes in Strasbourg and trained more than 440 auditors, prosecutors,
judges, police officers, gendarmes, customs officers, members of financial intelligence units.

CEIFAC had already had the pleasure and honour of seeing Mr. Frédéric BAAB appointed as European
Public Prosecutor for France and Ms. Yvonne FARRUGIA, European Public Prosecutor for Malta. She
had attended the training provided by CEIFAC in June 2017.

A very fine jurist, Mr. BAAB is a recognized specialist in international judicial cooperation, which he has
been practicing since 2014 as a national member for France at Eurojust. In particular, he published in
the Revue de Sciences criminelles of March 2018 a remarkable article: "The European Public
Prosecutor's Office and the Eurojust agency: Je ne t'aime, moi non plus".

He had honoured with his presence the colloquium organized by CEIFAC, on 2 April 2015 on "Financial
investigations and criminal financial analysis in the fight against organized crime in Europe" during
which he had testified to his realistic optimism on "The future of the fight against organized crime in
Europe".

CEIFAC has thus become the crucible of a common culture between the different actors in the fight
against organized crime, corruption and fraud in their economic and financial dimension and the only
European training centre for financial investigations and criminal financial analysis.

CEIFAC would like to congratulate Mrs. Tanja FRANK ELER on her appointment.

NB. The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is based in Luxembourg and should be operational
by the end of 2020. Its mission is to investigate, prosecute and bring to justice the perpetrators of
offences against the financial interests of the European Union. 22 Member States are currently
participating in this enhanced cooperation establishing the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
Deputy European Public Prosecutors have yet to be appointed in each of the 22 Member States.
